I'm taking commissions!
As the title suggests, I'm now taking commissions for work. Up until now, I've worked a full-time job, so I wouldn't have been able to dedicate much time to translations. I felt that this would be unfair if I was being paid, so I've never taken paid work for my translations. But I'm currently unemployed, so I have much more time to focus on translations.
So I want to address some possible questions.
How much will it cost?
For black-and-white pages, I will charge $3 per page. For color pages, I will charge $4.50 per page. We can negotiate prices in certain circumstances (such as if a page only has a single bubble of text).
How long will it take for a commission to finish?
That is harder to answer. There are a lot of factors involved in this (how many pages there are, how much text is in bubbles, how much I need to redraw, how much is life kicking me in the nuts, etc.). But to give a good estimate, we can look at one of my previous projects:
The third part of the "Yankee Girl" series has just under 100 pages. I purchased it as soon as it released and began work on it. I was also in the middle of moving out of my apartment and getting ready to move back to the US, all while traveling through Japan. So between traveling and last-minute sightseeing before returning to the states, I managed to get it done in about five days. Though, because this is a series I'm dedicated on working on, I had an obvious passion to get it done.
So I believe that I can get commissions done within a week, depending on how many pages there are.
Can I commission anything?
Well, no. I do have things I will NOT translate. Stuff with bestiality, scat, intense gore, etc. Basically, if a gallery gives you a content warning about it, it's likely I'll refuse.
Both H and Non-H stuff is ok. Series are also ok, so long as no other group is actively working on it (I do not want to snipe work from other translators). And obviously, if there is an official English translation of it, I will NOT work on it.
Stuff based on established franchises are also less-likely to be accepted, since I might not know anything about the characters that I need to know for accurate translations.
If a commission has my usual themes (TS, possession, body swap, etc.), then it'll more likely be accepted. But I will also accept stuff outside these themes.
If you're not sure if I'll translate something, feel free to ask.
When do I pay?
I'll contact you once you're at the top of the queue for translations. I'll give you details on how you can pay me.
Will you stop doing free stuff?
Sorta. I still have a few projects I've started that I want to finish, but they'll be on the back-burner while I have paid commissions to work on. And continuations of series I've already worked on (such as "Yankee Girl") will obviously be worked on.
Will you post these commissions online?
Unless specifically asked to, yes. I'll post any and all stuff online. If you just want it for personal use, let me know when you commission it so I know not to post it. If you ask for this, please do not post it online without crediting me for my work. If I find out you did this, I will shame you on the internet via comments and refuse to do work for you ever again (and I'll let other translators know about you doing this).
I have nothing to commission, but I want to support you anyway. Can I do that?
Well that's kind of you. I don't have anything set up at the moment for that, but I might set something up later for people that just want to give a dollar or so as thanks.
And I think that basically covers it. If you have any other questions, just ask. Once I have some commissions lined up, I'll set up a queue page via Google Docs so you can see what I'm currently working on. If life hits me so hard that I have to stop commissions, I will let everyone know and make a post here.
So go ahead and send any commissions to my e-mail: thefrogmanscans@gmail.com
